Well, that was cool! Do it yourself it you feel so inclined!

Oh what a week!

We are finally back from the last appointment for the week.

(Warning: if you are squeamish, you may not want to see the stitches on Indy or Ankica's x-ray below...just saying...)

Saturday and Sunday were spent in Florida with my M.S./Ph.D. advisor and his family.

Monday involved going to a Bible Study, picking the dogs up from the vet clinic, and a huge grocery run.

Tuesday was MOPS and cleaning.

Wednesday was the biggest day. Ankica fell out of bed at 1am and through a very long day of events, it turns out she broke her clavicle. We also took Indiana in for her knee surgery (she blew out her ACL) and picked her up that night.

Today was a day of doctor's appointments for both Indy and Ankica. Would you believe that the doctor said it should only take TWO WEEKS for it to heal?!?!?! He also said the funniest thing: the joke is that if the two pieces of a broken clavicle are in the same room they will find a way to heal :-) I was super glad to hear that.

The girls had a good time playing in Indy's crate before we put her in. She needs to be crated and carried up and down stairs for 6 weeks!

Here is Indy and her surgery site. (I just realized that the girls toy utensils are lying next to Indy and look like they were used for the surgery :-) ) The vet said it looks really good. She is, however, really back to her old self and tried to jump into the van when I tried to pick her up after the visit today. So I have a fat lip but hopefully she didn't tear anything further. She looks okay for now.

Ankica and her sling. She doesn't really like it but just having it on (even though she doesn't keep it on quite right) reminds her that she needs to be careful. She has been playing fairly normally and is generally in good spirits.

And the answer is...

At the Georgia Aquarium there is a place where kids can go in and look through a glass bubble with fish swimming through it and they are supposed to look like they are swimming.

Julia just kinda stood there at first :-)

Memories

This might turn into a weekly thing because after this weekend I realized that I have lots of memories I want to try to get on "paper".

This weekend we went to Gainesville Florida to visit my graduate school advisor, Geoff Dahl. He was my advisor in Maryland for my Master's and my advisor in Illinois for my Ph.D. He is the Department Chair in the animal science department at U of FL.

Just driving down to Florida started bringing back memories. I spent so much time with Geoff and his family! The weekend was fun and as easy going as it always was even though I hadn't seen them since July 2004.

The first time I met Geoff, Linda, and their first three kids (Kellie, Zoe, and Caleb) was when Geoff invited me to have Thanksgiving with them. I wasn't going to be able to go back home to Wisconsin from Maryland and it was the first Thanksgiving that I wouldn't be spending with my family. I didn't have a car so Geoff drove down to College Park and picked me up and we went back up to Columbia where they lived. Linda's family were sharing the meal with them also so it was a wonderfully chaotic time, just like it always is with my family. I remember Zoe, who was almost 6 at the time (she is almost 16 now!!!), being very cranky. A comment was made that she always goes through her glucose stores so fast because she is paper thin and eats like a bird and runs around like crazy. When the meal is late on the table, of course she would be cranky!

Many more memories are stored up in the memory banks just waiting to find the paper...stay tuned!

The girls having fun with Tesslyn at Zoe's basketball game.

Zoe is tall but needs to get tougher :-)

Caleb and his friend Andrew playing an NBA game. Loran has his coffee in hand, a must have for a Sunday morning. I will admit it was nice not to have to rush to get Loran to church on time to practice for the service.

Tess and Ankica playing with a tunnel and all the other toys. Ankica called Tesslyn "Buddy" a few times :-)

I wish...

I wish we could make money faster than we tend to spend it.

I wish I could lose weight faster than I gain it (goodness what a struggle these days).

I wish good news would come faster than bad news does.

I wish my babies could be potty trained quickly but would grew up slowly.

I wish we could heal our "heart hurts" faster than we get them. (Is that an appropriate use of quotation marks, Coralie?)

I wish I could be there and here at the same time.

Potty time

The girls have been starting to sit on the chairs together a few times a day. We have success most times they get in there but sometimes it turns into play time :-)

Big Girl Bed...FINALLY

Ankica is officially in a big girl bed as of Wednesday night. The first night went well but we'll see if it continues to go well. We recently weaned her of the pacifier at night so that was a big step as well. These pictures are from right after I rennovated the crib to a toddler bed and she and Lillian couldn't get enough of it!

Timeout?

Not really. They are just playing and happened to put their chairs up against the wall. The one picture looks like they are blessing the wall :-)

And the answer is...

The 48th Infantry Brigade Patch...it was picture from Loran's collection, go figure :-)

Jello coupon

60 cents off Jello pudding or gelatin refrigerated snacks (good until 2/14). I believe that you can print the coupon twice (I did anyway).

New seat

The time has come for Lillian to join us at the table. It works out well too because with Lillian strapped in and Ankica wanting to be a big girl like Lillian, everyone is finally at the table!

On Fire!

Loran lit a fire in our fireplace for the first time yesterday...it was so nice and it will come in handy in the next few days I think!

Happy Birthday Julia

Even though the celebration occurred on January 3rd, today is Julia's actual 9th birthday. It had a Littlest Pet Shop theme. We went roller skating (I even made it around the rink a few times) and then went out to a Chinese buffet. Supper was lasagna and cake and ice cream with a few presents to follow.

This was her cake and the pictures I used as inspiration. I tried painting with food coloring. The technique needs work :-)

Julia loved skating but Ankica wasn't too sure about it. At least we tried. She loved watching everyone though.

After skating we did a little riding on the rides...
